Where the Brand Took Flight
Inspired by messenger pigeons, Pigeon News blends purpose with personality. Explore the journey of designing its identity—from early sketches to the creation of Ecko and the logo.
Meet Ecko
The Modern News Messenger and Companion
I wanted Pigeon News to stand out by weaving the pigeon concept directly into the heart of its identity. Thinking long-term—especially with the potential of AR and VR—I saw that building the brand around a tangible, memorable mascot instead of a simple logo could give us a strategic marketing edge.
Mascots create personality. They’re fun, engaging, and far easier for users to connect with on an emotional level. From the start, Ecko was designed in 3D so that his Blender files could be repurposed for animations, promotional content, and interactive experiences. This approach not only strengthens brand storytelling today but also lays the groundwork for future integration into VR and AR, unlocking endless opportunities for creative interactions and immersive ways for users to experience Pigeon News.
Ecko AI: More Than A Mascot
While the mascot strategy is already a strong differentiator, I wanted Ecko to be even more deeply woven into the company’s DNA—so we named our proprietary AI technology after this sharp little bird. As we develop our own backend intelligence to enhance accuracy, neutrality, usefulness, and impact, we’re also giving this AI its own personality and identity. On the surface, it powers the Pigeon News experience; behind the scenes, it is Ecko, the News Pigeon.
This clever integration of mascot and machine turns our AI into a living part of the brand, making Ecko both the face and the brain of Pigeon News—just one of the many ways we’re redefining what a modern news platform can be.
